Children's Happenings: Basement Nears Completion; Pumpkin Patch is a Fun Occasion for the Whole Family!

The basement renovation is nearing completion and we hope to re-dedicate the space on either October 15 or 22!  A huge additional thanks to Dave Mathews for doing some wall repairs, and to Marge Pegula for installing the baseboards downstairs, adding finishing touches to the sink area, and donating art work, which she made herself, to add to the ambiance of the space!
Godly Play and Living the Good News are the two offerings for children on Sunday mornings, beginning at 9:45.  Please note that if you are running late, kids are always welcome, so come on down when you arrive at church!
We have one Godly Play room, for children aged 3 years through 2nd grade.  Grades 3, 4 and 5 use Living the Good News, which is lectionary-based.  During October, the Godly Play presentations will include:  Ten Best Ways, The Ark & The Tent, Samuel, David and The Ark &The Temple.  The upper elementary students will have lessons that are based on the scripture readings that are heard in church:  “Acting in Faith” ((Jesus’ parable of the two sons illustrates the nature of true obedience); “Fruitfulness” (Jesus tells the parable of the wicked tenants, who refuse to give the vineyard owner his rightful share of the harvest); “Banquet of Plenty” (Jesus compares the coming of the messianic kingdom to a wedding banquet to which all are invited); “Trusting in God Alone” ( Questioned about Roman taxes, Jesus says to give God what belongs to God) and “Love’s Priority” (Jesus summarizes the law in the two great commandments to love God and our neighbors.
The Pumpkins are coming!  Mark your calendars for our 8th annual church wide Pumpkin Patch October 7-31.  The pumpkins are scheduled to arrive on October 7 and offloading will occur at 9am. Lots of helpers are needed.  If individuals cannot lift pumpkins, other jobs will be found for them.  Parents and children can work side by side. Everyone is welcome to help and join in the fun!  Lunch will follow the offload.  Nursery care will be provided. For busy families, you can come and go as schedules dictate.  Proceeds go to projects for the homeless and hungry.
