This year, the season of Lent will start off on a “sweet” note with Ash Wednesday services scheduled for Wednesday, February 14, Valentine’s Day! Ash Wednesday is the day when we are invited to spend some time in worship reflecting on how we have fallen short in our lives and how we can use the season of Lent to refresh our spiritual lives and grow closer to God. And we mark this occasion by receiving the sign of the cross on our foreheads with ashes.
At Good Shepherd we celebrate Ash Wednesday at three different services of Holy Eucharist and the Imposition of Ashes that day – at 7 am in the chapel, and at 12 pm and 7 pm in the church sanctuary. The choir will sing and the EveningSong contemporary group will play at the 7 pm service, and, at that same service, members of the confirmation class will assist me in administering ashes to the congregation.
Please join your church family for one of these three services.
