Outreach Committee Announces New Relationship with the Rose Andom Center

The Outreach Committee is excited to announce a new collection opportunity with the Rose Andom Center.  Susie Street, a parishioner and a new member of the Vestry, approached the Outreach Committee at the end of 2017 to ask if we would consider taking on a project for the Rose Andom Center where she works.  The Rose Andom Center, which is in Denver, is currently the only family justice center in Colorado.   It serves victims of domestic violence.   The model is unique in that all of the services that a victim might need are all in one place--the detectives that investigate domestic violence crimes in Denver, the District attorney and city attorney, as well as 15 nonprofit community partners, all available to individuals who have been victims of domestic violence.

Often survivors arrive at the Rose Andom Center imminently fleeing domestic violence or recently having entered a safe house shelter.  As a result, there is a need for individual-sized toiletries (soap, shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, etc.) for those who are seeking help but may have left their homes quickly and without those personal items.

The Outreach Committee has agreed to serve as a collection conduit for those items.  We ask that members of the Congregation bring those items to church whenever you can, and put them in the bin that will be labelled and located in the Parish Hall near the existing bins for clothing donations for St. Francis Center and St. Clare’s.   The Committee will then work with Susie to distribute those items periodically to the Rose Andom Center, and with Susan Jones to distribute those items to St. Clare’s as well.
