Sunday School News: Curriculum for the Month of June

Sunday school begins downstairs at 9:45 every Sunday, but starting on June 24th when we move to one 9 am morning service, Sunday school will start at 9 am.  Throughout the summer months, the combined Godly Play classroom (for children aged 3 years through 2nd grade) will focus on the Parables.  On June 3, the presentation will be The Talents, followed by The Good Shepherd on June 10, a Father’s Day group time on June 17 and The Lost Sheep/Lost Coin on June 24.

The themes for grades 3 through 5, using Living the Good News, will be: Joyful Witnesses -- Jesus prays for those, both present and future, who are witness to the truth of His message.  After Jesus’ ascension, the apostles pray for God’s help to fulfill their task of choosing someone to join them (June 3); Choosing God’s Will – Today’s Gospel warns us of the perils of a house divided, and invites us to embrace our family in God (June 10); a Father’s Day group time (June 17); and Encounter with God -- In the Gospel, Jesus stills a storm at sea, revealing that He shares God’s power over creation on June 24.

Save the date:  Sunday, June 24 is the date of this year’s all parish picnic.  The festivities will begin immediately following the 9 am service. There will be family friendly activities, including a bounce house, face painting, games, food and fellowship.
