Thank you to everyone who generously donated filled eggs over the last several weeks so that all the kids had the opportunity to search for eggs during our annual Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday. You blessed the kids by your thoughtfulness!
We had a meaningful Palm Sunday Liturgy on April 14 where we explored the Stations of the Cross in a child friendly approach.
Sunday school begins at 9:45 every Sunday. On May 5, the combined Godly Play classroom (which currently meets in the chapel for children aged 3 years through 2nd grade) will have the presentation: Easter: The Road to Emmaus. The month continues with a Mother’s Day surprise on May 12, then Easter: Jesus Appears to the Disciples & Thomas on May 19, and ending the month with Easter: The Appearance at the Sea of Galilee & The Great Commission on May 26.
In the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade class (which currently meets in the room across from the chapel), the unit for May will be: Grow up in every way to be like Christ by using scripture verses and prayer to help you obey as Jesus obeyed.
· May 5: Jesus was obedient to God by obeying His parents. Life focus: Use Scripture verses and prayer to help you obey your parents.
· May 12: Special Mother’s Day surprise
· May 19: Jesus’ baptism pleased God and marked the beginning of His ministry. Life focus: Use Scripture verses and prayer to help you obey God, to please Him.
· May 26: Jesus used Scripture verses to help Him obey God when Satan tempted Him. Life focus: Use Scripture verses and prayer to help you obey when tempted.
Save the date: Sunday, May 19 is the date of this year’s all church picnic that will be held immediately following the 10 am service. There will be a bounce house, face painting, games and food for the entire family.
