An Evening of Chopin & Liszt featuring Pianist Dr. Stephen Fiess

  • Good Shepherd Episcopal Church 8545 East Dry Creek Road Centennial, CO, 80112 United States (map)

Join us for our first Music with a Mission Concert of the season featuring pianist Dr. Stephen Fiess and the music of two great Classical composers  –  Frederic Chopin and Franz Liszt  – both of whom wrote music that is beloved the world over.  Polish composer Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) is known as “the poet of the piano”.  Hungarian composer Franz Liszt (1811-1886) is considered to be the greatest pianist of all time, and his piano music reached new heights of virtuosic technical display.
Dr. Fiess will perform several popular Chopin piano works, including the Fantasy-impromptu, the “Minute” Waltz, the “Harp” Etude, and the Grande Polonaise Brilllante.  He will also perform some of Liszt’s best-known piano works, including Liebestraum and Hungarian Rhapsody #2.
Dr. Fiess holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  He was a prizewinner in the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition, and was first prize winner in the Kawai “Searching for a Star” piano recording competition.  He has served as organist and pianist for Good Shepherd Episcopal Church for 18 years; and teaches privately in the south suburban Denver area. He is well known in the Denver area as a performer, composer, lecturer, and teacher.
A free-will offering will be taken to benefit Good Shepherd’s Jamaica Medical and Dental Mission Project.
