The Rev. Gary Brower, Pastor
The Rev. Gary Brower grew up in Portland, Oregon. He holds undergraduate degrees from both Northwest Christian College and the University of Oregon. His M.Div. is from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, CA. He was ordained an Episcopal priest in 1993. And, in 1996 he completed his Ph.D. in Religion (Early Christian History) at Duke University. Gary has served as the Episcopal campus minister at Duke University, the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, and the University of California-Berkeley. Most recently, he spent eleven years as the University Chaplain at the University of Denver. He currently serves on the diocesan Board of Examining Chaplains and the diocesan Disciplinary Board. Gary and his wife Susan have been married for over 36 years and have two children — one in college, and one at Creek. He enjoys bicycling, fly-fishing, hiking, camping, cooking, and Rocky Mountain National Park!
sue lefant, children's ministry director
Sue joined the Good Shepherd staff in January 2008 as the Primary Nursery Guardian and then in August of 2010 became the Children's Director. Sue previously served as Children's Director at a local Presbyterian church for 6 years. She received her Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, with an emphasis in children, from CU Boulder and has a true passion for reaching kids for Christ.
rachel whipp, youth minister
Rachel joined Good Shepherd's staff in July of 2016 and serves as our Youth Minister. She is the daughter of parishioners Rick and Laura Whipp, grew up at St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church in Aurora and has been working for the past year as a youth intern and youth administrator at Smoky Hill Vineyard Church, where she helped lead a group of 100 middle and high school youth. Rachel leads our middle and high school youth group meetings on Sunday afternoons and coordinates youth mission trips and diocesan youth conference trips. Rachel's passion for youth ministry, her management skills and her warm and welcoming personality will help your youth feel right at home.
dr. stephen fiess, music director
Dr. Stephen Fiess joined Good Shepherd in 1998 as our church organist. He is a native of Ontario, Canada and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Western Ontario. After receiving his Masters degree in piano performance from Indiana University, Stephen relocated to Colorado and completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1989.
connie branton, choir director
Constance (Connie) Branton joined the staff of Good Shepherd in May of 2015. She has served churches as organist or choir director since she was 12 years old in Idaho, New Jersey, California, and Colorado. Connie is a graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J., with a Bachelor’s degree in church music. She earned a Master’s degree in music education from Boise State University. Connie believes that anyone can sing and encourages anyone who likes music to give the choir a try. She brings this mantra to Good Shepherd after teaching school music for almost 40 years before her retirement in 2008. In addition to her work at Good Shepherd she is employed at Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village as the staff accompanist for the choir program. Connie founded and directed Whitney Women’s Chorale in Boise, ID, for 27 years prior to her move to Colorado in 2008. This choir toured in the Western US and Canada, Alaska, New England and Texas. The Chorale also made three trips to Europe on singing tours. Connie is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association and is a former president of the Northwestern Division of the organization.
deedee atwood, communications director / contemporary music director / concert series program manager
Dee Dee joined the Good Shepherd staff as Contemporary Music Director in the fall of 2010. She is passionate about music and can't remember a time when it wasn't part of her life. DeeDee previously served as Children's Music Director at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Castle Rock where she also sang in the trio "Sisters in Grace". She is a professional singer with Colorado Caroling Company, and sings, plays keyboard and percussion in the "Shadow Ridge Rockers", a neighborhood rock band that performs at parties, fundraisers and corporate events. Originally from Virginia, Dee Dee graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Communications.
charlotte stasko, business manager
Charlotte joined the staff of Good Shepherd in November 2014. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Augustana College (Illinois) and a Master’s degree in accounting from the University of Tulsa. Over the past twenty-five years, she has worked with a variety of non-profits in the area of accounting and finance. She is a native of Iowa. She and her husband moved to Colorado in 1981. She has a passion for reading, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandson.
kathy hunter, parish administrator
Kathy joined our staff as Parish Administrator in September 2013. She has worked in church administration since 1989, both in Methodist and Presbyterian churches, and at the Denver Presbytery office. She was also the Assistant Manager of the local Cokesbury Christian Bookstore before coming to Good Shepherd. Kathy has two grown children and three grandchildren, and has been a member of Littleton United Methodist Church since 1965. She has sung soprano in her church’s Chancel Choir for 33 years.
marjie rogers, bookkeeper
Marjie is a native of Seattle, Washington, and a graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in Secondary Education. She and her husband, Jack, have two daughters and four grandsons. After living in Southern California for 16 years, they moved to Denver permanently in 1979 and have been members of Good Shepherd since that time. She has been a member of the Altar Guild since 1981 and Bookkeeper since 1997. In their "spare time," she and Jack enjoy traveling. Other interests are reading, any type of puzzles, and cooking.
